Ta’ Kola Windmill – History & Tips
Ta’ Kola Windmill, located in Xagħra, was first built in 1725 during the rule of the Knights of St. John to grind grain for the local community. After falling into disrepair, it was rebuilt in 1787 and remained active for generations. The windmill is named after its last miller, Ġuzeppi Grech, nicknamed “Żeppu ta’ Kola,” who lived and worked here in the early 20th century. Today, the windmill has been restored as a museum, showcasing traditional milling machinery, blacksmith tools, and the domestic life of a miller’s family.
